Removing Misconceptions

Some of the most commonly misquoted terms are these below, we find ourselves constantly battling to correct these terms as the presentation of the phrases is the core of the issue.

We have a lot of eyes on Islam and Muslims at present. The way that Muslims act and behave is constantly highlighted in the media and if someone reporting to be Muslim has any involvement in any act which is seen not to be correct, immediately it becomes an Islamic issue or something that The Muslims should be dealing with. At UKIM we intend to remove these misconceptions. In order to do this we must firstly highlight a few clear definitions.

Allah: The name Allah has been used in previous scriptures, such as the old testament, the Psalms of David and of course the Torah. This is the name which God almighty has always called himself, it is a Noun and cannot be pluralised or genderised in any way shape or form. Perhaps justifiably the only name that would best suit The Creator of Everything.

What Is Islam? Islam is a Noun. It is derived from the root word Salam meaning Peace. It is the name of the system that God Almighty has sent to his creation from Prophets Adam, Noah, Solomon, Joseph, Jacob, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and finalising it on the Prophet Muhammad, peace & blessings be upon them all. Therefore Islam is not a religion, it is a way of life in the complete sense, and it governs us from the cradle to the grave and beyond.

Who is a Muslim? Muslim (Arabic Verb) is made up of 2 syllables, MUSS (Follower)  SLIM, (The Sytem of Islam), someone who consciously and willingly follows the system of God Almighty, Islam, sometimes giving up his or her own desires in testification that the Creator knows best.

What is The Quran? The Qur’an (Noun) literally means “The Recited”, it is the last & final revelation sent from God Almighty to the creation offering guidance. It is the manual of life and has never been changed even after 1440 years. It is also the most read and memorised book in the world, it has been the centre of attention since it was revealed and many people have tried to change it, but the unchanged charm of the Quran still remains untouched, whilst it resides in the hearts of millions around the globe. Truly a masterpiece which can only be inspired by divine knowledge, never has any book changed so many people, and never shall anything better be revealed. Must be worth reading…

Who is Muhammad? (Peace & Blessings be Upon Him) Abū al-Qāsim Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib ibn Hāshim, born in Makka 570 AD, final Prophet of God Almighty bringing the final message through the Quran, NOT the founder of Islam. The best practitioner of the Quran who Muslims should be emulating in their daily lives. Learn more about The Last & Final Messenger of God Almighty by clicking here.

What is Jihaad ? Jihaad is NOT a holy war, in fact Jihaad is the strive or struggle for good as we struggle through our daily lives against our inner desires which is often referred to as Jihaadul Nafs (the struggle against our inner desires or ego), todays Jihaad would be to remove the often held misconceptions of Islam often held by people due to a lack of knowledge.
